Hollywood Very Interested In A Mass Effect Movie

According to Casey Hudson, project director on Mass Effect 2, Hollywood is very interested in a Mass Effect movie.
"Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect," Hudson told MTV. "The most important thing for us is, we don't just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it's going to get done at all."
The Mass Effect story is certainly big enough for a movie, with ample opportunity for huge, sci-fi set pieces and action, but can a decent Mass Effect flick come from the Entertainment Industry? Can Hollywood, who so monumentally screwed up sure-shot adaptations like Doom, possibly create something that's worthy of these games?
As always, my default position on game-to-movie projects remains the same: It will stink. But that's only based on past results. Could Mass Effect: The Movie buck the decades-long trend? We'll have to wait a while to find out. Things are obviously just in the talking-about-it stage, so there are no concrete plans for this to happen.
